Today is 9/11, the day the Twin Towers fell five years ago. But the day is the same as the last----lonely, miserable, yet happy too. It is all because of that boy. He told me his name today just as the sun was going down, and I told him mine. "Ma'am?" he asked. "Yes?" I replied, and when I saw him blushing, i smiled. That, to my surprise, made him blush brighter. I know that simple signs should not surprise me, but that one did. "My name," he said, "is Tyler. Tyler Hopkins." I looked at him and whispered, "I used to know someone named Tyler." I did. Louder, "I am Charity, Tyler. Charity Ann." He smiled and I smiled back, then he left.
Tyler, not this boy I know now but the old one, was my love. He loved me, and I loved him. We were to get married June 11, 1777. He had rust colored hair and green eyes. The small freckles on his cheeks, the dimple he gets when he smiles, the sparkle in his eyes, all of these brought me closer and closer, almost as if we were molding together into one person. Before the wedding, though, a vampire came and woke me from my slumber. He asked if I wanted to live forever, and I, not knowing what would happen, eagerly said yes to him. That is when I became a vampire. Now there is this Tyler, who reminds me so much of----
Oh, the piano is playing! But it is not me at the piano, letting my fingers glide along the keys, creating haunting tunes that would chill a weak man's heart. I will go see.
It was Tyler. He said that he missed my songs playing, piercing the silence of the night. I told him that I was busy tonight and did not have time to play. I was; I had to feed. He said he knew. My eyes had widened for a moment, but then I realized he thought I was busy because of a job or housework. I almost hugged him for that. I asked him why he was up then for it was 3 AM. He told me that he was awake because he had not seen me today. This made me blush. He looked down out of embarrassment, and I smiled. Tyler said bye and left. But before he left, I kissed him lightly on the cheek.
Now, once more, I must go. The sun will rise soon, and I must get into my coffin before it does.
